Who is Sebastian Lock? The bar Sophia Pearce is in doesn’t look like much. The wine is bad and the decor worse. Soon, he’s opening her eyes to a whole new world of pleasures, pleasures she never thought she’d enjoy. There’s just one problem. Sebastian is more than he seems. I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
The Dominant Alpha Male Hall of Fame is full of heavy hitters (pun intended). Christian. Gideon. Gabe. Ethan. Ian. Lucas. It is with great pleasure that I’d like to introduce you to their newest brother – Sebastian.
When lawyer Sophia Pearce agrees to a much needed night out with the girls, little does she know imbibing too much red wine will lead to her crashing a lavish secret back room party and getting a life changing introduction to the gorgeous, mysterious Sebastian Lock.
“That perfect tantalizing combination of olive skin, rugged stubble, and black unruly hair. However, it was his eyes that really took me down for the count…I felt strangely powerless beneath that gaze, like he wasn’t just looking at me, but into me. It wasn’t fair for a man to have eyes like that.”
Sophia and Sebastian have instant sparks but when curiosity gets the best of Sophia and she witnesses Sebastian in a Dominant/Submissive scene with his secretary, she bolts, going so far as leaving her shoes behind in an attempt to get away.
“Just like Cinderella, I thought. Although I’m not sure if the story traditionally contains quite so much masochism.”
Sebastian is not a man to be denied and he pursues Sophia promising a no strings relationship full of honesty and pleasure. I will confess that sometimes when I’m really into a story I get a little carried away and occasionally yell at my Kindle. The initial back and forth between the two characters resulted in the following conversation with my husband:
Me: For the love of God woman, stop shutting the man down!
Hubby: Who’s shutting what down? Wait, what are you reading? I don’t want to know do I?
Me: Probably not but if you let me keeping reading, you may become a fan of this book later.
Hubby: … carry on.
This book is hot. H-O-T. For those new to novels set in the BDSM world this book is a light introduction that won’t scare you away. For those familiar with the setting, you will not be disappointed by what you find.
“Wordless sounds spilt from my mouth, animal sounds, sounds I’d never heard myself make before. And the whole time he gazed into my eyes, primal satisfaction painted on his face.”
One final piece of praise, as a 33 year-old woman I have to give much love to Maya Cross for creating a strong female character who enters into the BDSM world as a fully-formed intelligent woman. Sophia is a lawyer with an established career. Sophia is nobody’s student, she’s not a little sister being tempted, she’s not a girl being lead into something. Entering into a relationship with Sebastian is a choice made to benefit herself in multiple ways. This was so refreshing and I really appreciated it.
“Locked” does end on a cliffhanger but I recommend braving it. This is a fun, fast-paced, worthwhile read and I will be jumping directly into the sequel “Lockout.”
