*Author Spotlight & Giveaway* Melissa L. Delgado & The Journey Series

This week The Reading Room Blog is happy to spotlight author Melissa L. Delgado. I was fortunate enough to meet Melissa at the Indies Invade Philly author event earlier this year. Give Melissa a warm welcome and check out her Journey Series.

A childhood crush who moved away. An adult love that shattered her world. Twenty-seven year old Mackenzie Tillson hasn’t been living for quite some time, rather, just existing. Life is passing her by and even with the love of her friends and family she can’t quite seem to snap out of the disconnected bubble she has created around her. Moving day by day as a shell of a person who once knew what it meant to live.

Until one day, the boy who first had her heart comes back. With a vengeance...Drew Dean has been apart from the girl he loved all of those years ago for far too long and now that fate has provided them with a second chance, he will make it clear to her that she is, and always has been the one for him. But what Drew discovers in the process, is Mackenzie may just end up being completely unreachable.

Is it possible to get through to someone who has no intentions of ever letting anyone in again? Can a person find their way through the darkness and emptiness they've created? For Mackenzie, trudging along in life alone is where she feels she deserves to be. But will she find it in her to fight and break the barrier of the internal distorted view she has of herself? Or will she let everyone and everything slip away?

As Mackenzie tries to piece together the remnants of her shattered existence, she inadvertently discovers life, love and loss are one in the same. A hopeful journey to be taken with an ending to fill the emptiness she's carried for too long.

A present life worth moving on for. A past best left to memories tucked away.
Jaxon Dean has reached a point in his life where everything is as it should be. He has the personality, the looks, and the charm, to basically get whoever he desires—except Cassandra Tyce. She's immune to his playboy ways, quick wit, and over indulgence of himself. There is only one time he can recall having to work as hard to snag the one he had his sights set on…

At a much simpler time in life, all he had to worry about was passing classes, hitching a ride to places, and collecting phone numbers. Although on his first day of high school, Jaxon found not every girl was susceptible to his charms. Could one person truly change his overzealous ways?
An unexpected turn of events can leave even the toughest ones lost without hope... Hope of ever recovering, of ever wanting to see tomorrow, of ever feeling true happiness again.

With the help of Cassandra Tyce, Jaxon will learn that sometimes, lying to oneself can be the sole reason a person stays torn.

“Good morning class.” My attention moves to the front of the class. “My name is Mr. Woodbury. Welcome to Freshmen English.” He adjusts his glasses. He doesn't look much older than us, actually. I thought he was a student when I saw him earlier. “This is the start of yet another year, I know we have a few students new to the area, so I would like to ask for each of you to come up and tell us a little bit about yourself.”

Seriously? No other teacher today has pulled this bullshit.

Mr. Woodbury peers down at the roster sheet and calls out my name and two others, “Would Jaxon Dean, Holland Peters, and Blair Olivieri, please come to the front.”

Grumbling my total want of rejection to this, I make my way to the front of the class. Standing next to me are two pretty hot chicks. The reddish blonde one looks bored and the one with the short dark hair looks kind of nervous. So me being me, I clear my throat and go first, “Sup, name’s Jax Dean, I just moved here from Florida,” I scan the class, glance at the two girls standing in front with me, then my teacher, and smirk, “I’m also currently available. Any ladies ready for a good time, see me after class. You won’t be disappointed—”

“Thank you Mr. Dean, that’s quite enough.”

I love anything and everything pertaining to make up or beauty. I am an author and a poet. I love to write and shop. I love going to the movies and spending time with my friends and family. I love to dance. I love to laugh and to make others laugh. I’m inspired by dance, music, poetry, and photography. I feel there is beauty in everything. I believe to get respect you have to give respect and to treat others how you want to be treated. I love everything and anything vintage. I love Jesus and believe in having faith in the unseen and unheard. I love to have fun and make new memories. But mostly, I love life. Enjoying the road I’m on and making the most of it...But wait! This must be the part where I say I live with my husband, two point five children, and our family dog in a modest home with a white picket fence. Except, for nope, none of that. Did I get ya? No? Yes? Well, rest assured, the dog part is true.
