In need of a read that packs a phenomenal blend of exciting paranormal suspense, heartfelt romance, and pulse-pounding action? Look no further than Kissed By A Demon Spy. A novella in the Solsti Prophecy Series, this little gem of a story can be read as a standalone.
A violent uprising has left former sex-slave Garnet with one thing she could never have imagined for herself or her son Dash - freedom. When handsome innkeeper Aden provides not only lodging but a chance for a real job Garnet can't believe her fortune. But the two live in tumultuous times and Aden may be keeping secrets that would put Garnet and Dash back in harms way. As sparks fly between the pair they must decide what they're willing to expose for a chance at lasting happiness.
Author Sharon Kay has always blown my mind with her ability to not only craft solid, addictive leads but also how she surrounds them with multi-dimensional second and third tier characters that I desperately want to know more about. In the few brief scenes Garnet had in Wicked Waves: Solsti Prophecy #2, I felt for her and hoped to see her again. I was thrilled when I heard she would be getting her own story and Kay did not disappoint. Garnet is a brilliant heroine, one I won't forget any time soon.
While Kissed By A Demon Spy deals with some weighty topics like sex trafficking and war (both with a paranormal twist), this book bleeds hope. You feel hope radiating from every page and every interaction between Garnet and Aden. I cheered at the HEA and it totally reenergized me for the next book in the Solsti Prophecy Series.
"The dark pools of her eyes had held a fierce, proud love when she looked at her son. And that love told him volumes about her spirit. It told him that no matter what she'd gone through, there was a spark in her that hadn't died, that still held onto hope. And that spark pulled him to her like a magnet."
"Options and generosity hadn't existed for her before. Now, each nice gesture, each decision she made simply because she could, shone like bright stars in the night velvet of the sky."
"I know we just met. But I already know that I will shift the goddamn stars in the sky if that's what it takes to see you happy."
If you haven't checked out the Solsti Prophecy Series yet, Kissed By A Demon Spy is a great way to dip your toe in. Once you do, I'm pretty sure you'll be hooked just like me. If you're already a Solsti Prophecy Series fan, this is a great addition to the series.
