NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BEST SELLING AUTHOR TONI ALEO PRESENTS THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN THE ASSASSINS SERIES…
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas – with eight stories featuring your most beloved characters and their families – it’s time to get comfy with a cup of hot cocoa and take a sneak peek at the holidays, Assassins’ style.
Join Lucas and Fallon along with Tate and Audrey as they await life-changing gifts; Erik and Piper, and Phillip and Reece who have decisions to make that could lead to exciting developments ahead in their lives; and Claire as she makes a Christmas wish and choices for her future. Spend Christmas morning with the Adler family and see what the New Year has in store for Karson and Lacey, as well as Kacey King. The King family faces significant changes and resolutions that will leave readers alternately cheering and maybe a little heavy-hearted…all wrapped up in a big bow.
I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
There is some magical familial quality to Toni Aleo's Assassins Series that I have always been amazed by. Though each of the Assassins books (Taking Shots, Trying to Score, Empty Net, Blue Lines, Falling for the Backup, Breaking Away, Laces & Lace) packs plenty of steam and can be read as a stand alone, each book builds a solid foundation that the entire Assassins hockey team and those that love them are each others family. As a devoted reader that foundation makes me feel like I'm part of the clan and as I read I can almost see and hear their loud and boisterous group events. It is a wonderful emotional pay off to see characters I've already fallen for continue to grow and evolve. To see them celebrate one of my favorite holidays - pure magic.
A Very Merry Hockey Holiday is a real Christmas gift to Aleo's established fans, showcasing each Assassins couple embracing the holiday spirit (as well as each other). There's something for everybody with splashes of angst, sweetness, humor, and heat. I loved this story so much I devoured it quickly and then immediately jumped in for a second read.
A Very Merry Hockey Holiday has a beautiful core of love, hope and happiness. Assassins fans - you cannot miss out on this one. If you're new to Toni Aleo's world of hockey love - do yourself a favor and check out the first six books first and then jump head first into A Very Merry Hockey Holiday.
Favorite Quotes (One Per Chapter):
Lucas & Fallon: "The years had been great to them. They were very blessed with happiness, more children, and a marriage that no one could touch."
Audrey & Tate: "Maybe it was just loving him that would make him happy. He had told her that, and if she got her head out of her ass, maybe she would start to listen."
Piper & Erik: "Christmas wasn't even here yet, and she knew he had a beautiful gift for her, but no matter what the season, her husband continually gave her the best gift of all. And that was his love and ultimate support."
Reese & Phillip: "Her smile grew as Sawyer pursed his lips, his eyelashes kissing his cheeks as he dreamed about whatever the hell little boys dreamed of. Probably hockey, since he was Phillip's son."
Claire: "There could be a million gifts under the tree, but the most important gift was looking deep into her eyes with his arms holding her tight to him."
Shea & Elli: "He could still take every bit of stress out of her body with one kiss. That was probably why she hadn't lost her damn mind yet. Because Shea loved her. More than she would ever deserve."
Karson & Lacey: "Her life had been completely turned upside down. It used to scare her, but now, she knew there was no other way. She was meant to love Karson Jett King, and everything else just fell into place."
Kacey: "I'm going to realize one day that I shouldn't have let you go, and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna regret it. By then though, you'll find some schmuck who will love you the way you deserve, and you'll be happy. That's what I want."
PS - One of the chapters beautifully sets up a future Assassins story between Karson's little sister Kacey and bad boy Jordie Thomas. I cannot wait to see this story play out!
