In this fun and saucy romance novel, all-star college basketball player Thea dominates on the courts—and off—with a rock star who is determined to win her over.
Thea is a star basketball player at UConn on track to be Rookie of the Year. That is, if she can stay focused on the game. Lately that hasn’t been going so well, as her knee has been bothering her. But that’s not the only thing on her mind…
Ever since rock star Keaton Lowe surprised her in the girl’s locker room, Thea can’t stop thinking about him. On top of his status and enticing ways, he seems to know everything about her. But some of his actions cross the line, and Keaton needs to be punished. Will Thea keep her head in the game, or get distracted by her other favorite pastime—reprimanding her rock star?
I received a copy of this story from NetGalley for an honest review.
Not a lot of authors can successfully blend sweet romance with wild kink but author Mina Vaughn does it with great success in How To Reprimand Your Rock Star. This book was a blast and I hope I can convince you to give it a chance.
Thea Papastathopoulos - or Pops to her teammates - has major skills on the basketball court. But just when her team needs her most, Thea is begins to loss focus and confidence. That is until a cocky rock star catches her off guard...
Keaton Lowe is the lead singer of legendary rock group Trickster City. Known as the Heartbreaker of
the Century, Keaton is thrown for a loop when he stumbles on an athletic Greek goddess naked in a college locker room. In the past Keaton would have dominated a beauty like this but there's something in her energy that shakes him, something that makes him want to experience something different, something that makes him want to submit to HER...
What I Loved: How To Reprimand Your Rock Star was simply a fun and entertaining read that I was able to finish in just one sitting. Likeable characters, snappy dialogue, and lightening quick pacing kept me hooked and invested in both the story and the characters. A small warning – Thea and Keaton’s romantic and emotional relationship happens to be based in BDSM. That said Author Mina Vaughn handles the BDSM aspect of the couple in such a refreshing manner I never saw it as shocking, it was just part of the characters and I loved them more for acknowledging their personal needs. One of the big positives for me is that How to Reprimand Your Rock Star has a pretty sweet role reversal from many of the BDSM themed books I’ve read lately. Let’s just say Thea is as far from the shrinking violet naïve college girls in many of those Dom/Sub books as you can get.
What I Didn’t Love: I really don’t have much to complain about with How To Reprimand Your Rock Star. The only thing that may have pushed this to a 5 star read for me is a little bit more insight into Keaton – who he was before stumbling upon Thea, his feelings on their developing relationship, how he saw their future, etc. Overall this is a well written rock star romance with an energizing wild streak.
“Because you didn’t sing along. Not from the first note. You looked in my eyes, all fire and curls, and gave me hell. Fuck, Thea, I liked it.”
“I dream of you every night, Goddess. I know you think I’m a bit of a cad, and I was. There’s just something about you I can’t shake, something that make me want only you.”
“A singer helped me find my voice, and a player abandoned his game for a different kind of victory.”
Hot rock star that is also loveable and sweet? Check. Strong heroine that learns to embrace her own power? Check. Story I would easily recommend? Check. How To Reprimand Your Rock Star is a good time and worth picking up. I have never read Mina Vaughn’s work before but I will definitely be adding some more of her stuff to by TBR.
