Here Comes Trouble—Kicking off a brand new Siren-Bookstrand series
Short extract

If he wanted her, he’d meet her halfway.

“I said, ‘That’s why Denny always won’ and I didn’t stutter.” She lifted her chin and looked him square in the eye. “If you want me, come and get me, Allister. If you want to win my heart, take my body. You can’t have one without the other. And you can’t be easy and gentle with somebody who only wants to be wild and free. “You take me, Allister, but don’t treat me like a fine china doll. Don’t kiss me like you’ll bruise me or love me like I’ll break. I’m a woman with needs, Allister, and right now I need you.”

*Review* Her Perfect Game by Shannyn Schroeder

Spring break is supposed to be a week of fun in the sun for three childhood friends about to graduate from college. But one of them is ready to get her game on somewhere else…
Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn't quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she's entering a "hackfest" over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who's been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can't fight the desire that comes rushing back.
Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they're face to face again, he doesn't know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he's offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever?

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this story from NetGalley for an honest review.

Nerdy girls are getting their well deserved romantic day in the spotlight in Shannyn Schroeder's highly addictive Hot & Nerdy novella  series. Her Perfect Game is a wonderful second entry in the series with waves of humor, steaminess, and sweet second chance romance.

Charlie Castle has a secret that event her BFF's don't know. Despite Charlie's expert gaming and hacking skills, college proved to be the one game she just couldn't win. So while her girlfriends go live it up on one last wild Spring Break, Charlie's got to lay it all on the line at a weekend long "hackfest," praying to secure a spot at a major gaming company without a college degree. It's going to take all her skill and concentration... which is totally blown the moment she arrives and runs smack into her ex.

Jonah Best is a golden boy in the gaming industry but his success hasn't helped him forget Charlie, the girl he loved and left in an act of desperation. When a recruitment mission puts him right in Charlie's path, Jonah vows to reclaim the girl he once walked away from. Unfortunately Jonah's been keeping a secret, a secret that may break Charlie's trust in him for good.

What I Loved: As a proud nerdy girl, Charlie struck a chord with me and I felt a solid connection with her character. Sexism is a real issue in the gaming and fan community. More than once I’ve been in a comic book store and been asked if I was there to pick something up for my guy while the clerk’s eyes stayed well below my neck level. Charlie’s refusal to let the inappropriate behavior of others turn her away from a world she feels at home in had me cheering. Her Perfect Game is also a super fast and super easy read that I was able to get through in one straight read.

What I Didn’t Love: Jonah's character was a bit of a struggle for me. His connection with Charlie was strong and sweet, but I could not get over his reason for leaving Charlie without a word when they were in college. Jonah loved Charlie so much and was so worried about her that he had to leave her without confronting her with his concerns? I would have loved for Charlie to call Jonah out on his presumptions and Jonah to own up to hurting Charlie and making bad decisions.

Favorite Quotes:

“You leaving made me realize how pitiful my life was. I had no balance. Nothing I really cared about. Losing you showed me I needed to unfuck myself.”

“I’ve never been disappointed in you. I’ve been afraid for you, worried about you, but never disappointed. Just the opposite. You amaze me.”

Her Perfect Game is novella #2 in the Hot & Nerdy Series. I loved Her Best Shot (#1) and thought Her Perfect Game was a good follow-up. I can’t wait to check out the final novella of the series, Her Winning Formula (#3). The Hot & Nerdy books are quick reads with strong independent female leads and a fair share of heat. Each can be read as a stand-alone but I'm loving the series as a whole.

Happy reading.

*Cover Reveal* Inspire by Cora Carmack

Kalliope lives with one purpose.
To inspire.
As an immortal muse, she doesn’t have any other choice. It’s part of how she was made. Musicians, artists, actors—they use her to advance their art, and she uses them to survive. She moves from one artist to the next, never staying long enough to get attached. But all she wants is a different life— a normal one. She’s spent thousands of years living lie after lie, and now she’s ready for something real.
Sweet, sexy, and steady, Wilder Bell feels more real than anything else in her long existence. And most importantly… he’s not an artist. He doesn’t want her for her ability. But she can’t turn off the way she influences people, not even to save a man she might love. Because in small doses, she can help make something beautiful, but her ability has just as much capacity to destroy as it does to create. The longer she stays, the more obsessed Wilder will become. It’s happened before, and it never turns out well for the mortal.
Her presence may inspire genius.
But it breeds madness, too.
Cora Carmack is a twenty-something writer who likes to write about twenty-something characters. She's done a multitude of things in her life-- boring jobs (like working retail), Fun jobs (like working in a theatre), stressful jobs (like teaching), and dream jobs (like writing). She enjoys placing her characters in the most awkward situations possible, and then trying to help them get a boyfriend out of it. Awkward people need love, too. Her first book, LOSING IT, was a New York Times and USA Today bestseller.

*Blog Tour & Review* Full Disclosure by Kindle Alexander

Deputy United States Marshal Mitch Knox apprehends fugitives for a living. His calm, cool, collected attitude and devastatingly handsome good looks earn him a well-deserved bad boy reputation, both in the field and out. While away on an assignment, he blows off some steam at a notorious Dallas nightclub. Solving the case that has plagued him for months takes a sudden backseat to finding out all there is to know about the gorgeous, shy blond sitting alone at the bar.

Texas State Trooper Cody Turner is moving up the ranks, well on his way to his dream of being a Texas Ranger. While on a two-week mandatory vacation, he plans to relax and help out on his family’s farm. Mitch is the last distraction Cody needs, but the tatted up temptation that walks into the bar and steals his baseball cap is too hard to ignore.

As Mitch’s case gains nationwide attention, how will he convince the sexy state trooper that giving him a chance won’t jeopardize his life’s plan...especially when the evil he’s tracking brings the hate directly to his doorstep, threatening more than just their careers.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review for The Reading Room Blog.

If you have not had the pleasure of a Kindle Alexander book let me tell you upfront that you’re missing out. Double Full (Nice Guys Novel 1) was my first experience with Kindle as well as my first M/M read. I was instantly hooked. The follow-up to Double Full, Full Disclosure (Nice Guys Novel 2), was on my list of anticipated reads of 2014 and I’m happy to report it did not disappoint. Steamy and sweet, suspenseful and heart-wrenching – Full Disclosure is an engaging and exciting read.

Deputy Marshal Mitch Knox is at the end of his rope. After linking together a series of violent and sometimes fatal attacks on gay men, Mitch’s supervisors won’t give the case the attention it deserves and he’s nowhere close to pinning down a prime suspect. Mitch needs a night out and a chance to blow off some steam. When he spots a sexy cowboy hiding in the corner of a popular gay club, Mitch’s instincts tell him that if he doesn’t snap the man up, he may miss out on more than one exciting night.

Texas State Trooper Cody Turner isn’t ashamed of who he is but after spending years dedicated to building his law enforcement career in hopes of becoming a Texas Ranger, he has zero confidence in his ability to maneuver in the dating field. When sexy and confident Mitch sweeps him off his feet, Cody must decide if he can trust Mitch with not only his body but also his heart.

What I Loved: Kindle Alexander books flawlessly blend meaningful romance with scorching passion and Full Disclosure was no exception. The yearning from both Mitch and Cody not just for a physical connection with each other, but for something lasting and real is palpable. Also Mitch is one of the most refreshing M/M leads I’ve read in a long time. This manly man not only owns his sexuality but proudly displays it and puts it out for the world to see. I couldn’t stop smiling in one scene where he puts Cody at ease by wearing a t-shirt that reads “I’m going to bottom you so hard.”

What I Didn’t Love: Full Disclosure devotes a lot of time to Mitch’s investigation into a series of hate crime attacks against gay men that his superiors are ignoring. The investigation is compelling and strikes a chord with today’s current events, but at times I would have liked a tad more on Mitch and Cody’s personal lives to keep things balanced.

Favorite Quotes:

“The look in Cody’s eyes gripped his heart. He was so lost to the moment, so lost to this man.”

“He might not look different on the outside, but inside, he was a whole new person. Each time he’d been with Mitch, he came back a different man, a changed man, a better man.”

“Mitch’s words blanketed his heart and embraced his soul; the moment was beautifully devastating, and Cody knew right then he’d never be the same man he was when he walked into this room tonight.”

Overall Full Disclosure is a well written romance full of heat, heart, humor, and suspense. I highly recommend giving it a read. Full Disclosure can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading Double Full (Nice Guys Novel 1) first. It will round out the story and add a sense of urgency to Mitch’s investigation. There will be a Nice Guys Novel 3 released in 2015. I can’t wait and will be happily stalking it.

Happy reading.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It's always a surprise to see what's coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it's true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women's hair!

Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life - I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations - regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal... I don't want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I'm going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I'll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died - weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn't have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It's everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness - it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn't a time she wasn't there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It's its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn't be here today without her.

*Blog Tour & Review* Pulled Within by Marni Mann

Storms can't last forever...can they?
For five long years, Rae Ryan has lived in a storm over which she has no control. Little by little,
everything has been taken away from her—her job, her relationship, her best friend and her home.
Plagued by nightmares and a terrible family secret, she carries her scars as much on the inside as she
does on the outside.
Hart Booker, another disappointment from her past, returns to Bar Harbor and shelters her from the
rain. He reminds Rae that forgiveness is possible, happiness can be found on the other side of darkness, and beauty rests beneath her scars. But a sinister figure lingering in the background seems determined to pull Rae back into a past she’s been trying to outrun. Can she survive the storm and become part of the light she so desperately desires? Or is she destined to remain Pulled Within?
Recommended for mature audiences due to explicit language, sexual abuse, disturbing situations, and
drug use.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

Author Marni Mann knows angst and heart break, but best of all she knows how to temper it with the right amount of hope. That skill of balancing dark and light is transparent in her new release Pulled Within.

Rae Ryan is out of options. No guy, no job, no best friend and no home. Desperation causes her to take an out of town job that brings her face to face with the one person who may care enough to save her, the one person who may push her enough to face the ghosts of her past

Hart Booker loved Rae Ryan when they were young but dreams of becoming a famous ball player separated the pair. Hart always regretted how the two parted and vows to not only win back the girl he never forgot but also to help heal her scars inside and out.

What I Loved: Pulled Within is chock full of raw emotion. Mann translates Rae's internal struggles so vividly I swear I could physically feel Rae move from the chaos of her rage to the pain of her heartbreak. The chemistry between Rae and Hart is strong and the banter between the two is very, very steamy.

What I Didn't Love: Rae is put through the ringer and I found myself feeling for a character that one I absolutely hated in Pulled Beneath. But near the end of Pulled Within something is revealed that made me feel like some of the hardship Rae faced was unnecessary. I was also disappointed that by the end of the story Rae still viewed Drew (the heroine from Pulled Beneath) with hatred and contempt.

Favorite Quotes:

"We were the calm after a beautiful storm that I never wanted to end."

"But maybe there was a home out there for me, and Hart would be able to help me find it. As long as it kept the storms out, that would be enough for me."

Pulled Within is a moving tale of loss and redemption, of love and forgiveness. While Pulled Within can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading Pulled Beneath first. It's a wonderful book and adds depth to the overall Bar Harbor universe. Overall I love the Bar Harbor Series and can't wait for the next one to be released.

Happy reading

*Review* Alex: A Cold Fury Hockey Novel by Sawyer Bennett

Hockey star Alexander Crossman has a reputation as a cold-hearted player on and off the rink. Pushed into the sport by an alcoholic father, Alex isn’t afraid to give fans the proverbial middle finger, relishing his role as the MVP they love to hate. Management, however, isn’t so amused. Now Alex has a choice: fix his public image through community service or ride the bench. But Alex refuses to be molded into the Carolina Cold Fury poster boy . . . not even by a tempting redhead with killer curves.
As a social worker, Sutton Price is accustomed to difficult people—like Alex, who’s been assigned to help her create a drug-abuse awareness program for at-risk youth as part of the team’s effort to clean up his image. What she doesn’t expect is the arrogant smirk from his perfect lips to stir her most heated fantasies. But Sutton isn’t one to cross professional boundaries—and besides, Alex doesn’t do relationships . . . or does he? The more she sees behind Alex’s bad-boy façade, the more Sutton craves the man she uncovers.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this story from NetGalley for an honest review.
Typically when I write a review I share what I loved about a story as well as anything I didn't love. Alex: Cold Fury Hockey #1 by Sawyer Bennett was a 5 star read for me so I thought I'd try something a little different. Here are 5 reasons I loved Alex and I think you will to:
1. Alex Crossman - The MVP of Carolina Cold Fury hockey team, otherwise known as Most Valuable Prick, is in turns infuriating and heartbreaking. The amount of self-doubt that author Sawyer Bennett infuses in the character helped me quickly connect with the hero even when I wanted to smack him upside the head.
2. Sutton Price - Beautiful inside and out, Sutton let her dark past define her in the best way possible by becoming a counselor out to help those in need. When forced to babysit Alex on her passion project for at risk youth, Sutton not only refuses to tolerate Alex's horrible attitude but calls him on every bad behavior he displays. Sutton is no damsel in distress and I love that she actually becomes the knight in shining armor for Alex.
3. Hockey - I married a Michigan boy who took me to hockey game for one of our first dates. I was hooked in the first 10 minutes. Sawyer Bennett captures the excitement and energy of the sport and had me looking for tickets to a live game.
4. North Carolina - That Michigan boy I mentioned? Well I met him in North Carolina at college. Bennett sets a great scene and I found myself grabbing my husband and pointing out scenes going "I think we went there." I really felt like I was back walking around Raleigh.
5. New Series - Alex has well-developed, fully dimensional characters, steamy heat between the leads, a meaningful plot about acceptance and forgiveness, and one hell of a happy ending.  If this is the way Sawyer Bennett starts off a new series count me in for the rest of the books.
Happy reading.
