*Book Blitz* A League of Her Own by Karen Rock

He was attractive, talented…and way off limits.

Heather Gadway may have been a world-class college pitcher and a top university coach, but she's a rank amateur when it comes to managing the Falcons, her father's struggling minor league team. And when it comes to managing her aggravating attraction to Garrett Wolf, their talented new pitcher. It's going to be difficult enough to make it as the first female manager in the league and prove to her overly critical father she's worthy. No distractions. No missteps. And certainly no romances with players. Everything stands between them—including their troubled pasts—even as Heather's world falls apart and Garrett's the one who's there to catch her…

“What else do you want?” The question came from a part of her she didn’t recognize. Asking a man like Garrett a flirtatious question was playing with fire.

Garrett groaned, longing sharpening his features. “You.”

Without waiting for her response, his lips captured hers. She knew she should push him away, but instead her head fell back, her pulse leaping in her throat. The pressure was exquisite as he nibbled and explored. Soft. Warm. Gentle. His lips moved slowly, gradually exerting more pressure.

This felt incredible. Better than the last time. She had to stop this, but need seized her, shoving aside her good intentions.

Her body hummed and a fuzzy sensation filled her head, making it hard to focus on anything but the feel of him, the evergreen scent of the forest and his aftershave heightening her senses.

His hands gripped her waist as she swayed against him, holding her as his mouth sampled her lower lip, then put pressure on the top. Nerves sent small shock waves through her chest, and her hand rose to stroke the back of his neck, making him tremble against her.

Suddenly his kiss intensified, growing fierce and demanding. His lips moved fast against hers, their tongues tangling, causing warmth to explode in her body, melting every piece of her.

She moaned and Garrett’s arms tightened, bringing her closer still. Her lips maneuvered against his in response, loving his sweet taste. Garrett shuddered, curling his fist into her hair with a groan. She loved how her touch affected him, how it affected her.

At last his lips let her go, and he looked down at her tenderly, pleasure in his eyes, his chest rising and falling hard.

“I wasn’t getting involved with anyone. Planned to focus only on baseball,” he said when his breath came easier. “But I can’t stay away from you. You follow me, even in my sleep. Your eyes.” He kissed each lid. “Your smile.” He pressed his lips to each corner. “These freckles.” His warm mouth brushed her cheeks.

Her chest expanded, taking in his beautiful words. This incredible moment. And then it hit her, reality a cold shower.

She opened her eyes and scooted away. “Garrett. I don’t know.”

His eyes moved out over the falls, tracking the sprays of water as they hit the jutting rocks and tumbled to earth. “You don’t trust me.”

Her mouth opened and closed. He was right. While he touched a chord inside that’d never sounded for anyone else, she still couldn’t put her heart in harm’s way again. And she knew without a doubt that if Garrett let her down, he’d devastate her as much as her mother had. Even more. She’d loved and lost too many times to try again, especially with her father gone so recently.

“I’m sorry,” she said inadequately as he stood and helped her to her feet.

His blank expression gave little away. She wondered if, deep down, a part of him was relieved they weren’t taking things further. He’d said he hadn’t wanted distractions. And now she wouldn’t be one.

“I can’t make you believe in me, Heather.” His voice was steady and strong. “I need someone who’ll give me a chance to earn her trust.”

*Blog Tour* Laces & Lace by Toni Aleo

NEW YORKS TIMES AND USA TODAY BEST SELLING AUTHOR TONI ALEO PRESENTS THE NEXT INSTALLMENT IN THE ASSASSINS SERIES

Nine years ago, things were perfect. Lacey and Karson had found their happily ever after in each other…or so they thought. How do two people who were meant to be move on from that once-in-a-lifetime love?

Lacey has a strength inside her that comes alive with the things she’s most passionate about. She’s a fighter, a survivor, and has everything she’s ever wanted but the one thing that matters most—love.

Karson is doing the one thing he loves most—playing hockey for the Assassins, yet he knows regret. He knows his life has been missing the one thing he walked away from so many years ago—Lacey.

Nine years later, and neither has been able to succeed in moving on from what was, what could have been, and who each of their hearts still beats for. When a chance encounter during a fateful night has their paths crossing again, will the tether still attaching their souls allow them to face the past, present, and a possible future?

Can two people with fate on their side find a way back to each other? Overcome all the obstacles in their way to finally live life together to the fullest?

Or will they let those around them and the circumstances they face, along with questions and doubt, ruin a second chance at the life they both deserve?

Laces and Lace includes the prequel Tangled in the Laces, a dollar of your purchase will be donated to the Nashville Predators Foundation.

I love epic romance and you can’t get much more epic than soul mates forced apart by a villainous parent in their youth only to reconnect almost a decade later to find their connection alive and as vibrant as it was before their separation. Hero and heroine Karson and Lacey face multiple hurtles in their romance but it only makes their romantic victory so much sweeter. Laces & Lace is book # 6 in author Toni Aleo's stellar Assassin's Series and it is a fresh and worthy addition.

For a several wonderful months in college, Karson and Lacey found each other and a love that burned fast and bright. When Lacey's father rips the pair apart they spend almost a decade alone knowing they missed out on something great. A chance encounter in a cab proves the love between them is still there. Can Karson and Lacey overcome a vengeful father, a jealous best friend, rowdy teammates and the dark shadow of cancer to get the life together they deserve?

What I Loved:  Author Toni Aleo does her leads a great service by not making Laces & Lace a will they or won’t they story. The connection between Karson and Lacey is concrete and never really in doubt. The story focuses on the challenges they need to beat as a couple and how much stronger they’ll be together when they overcome every single one. I went into this story knowing I was going to shed a few tears and I wasn’t wrong. But I hade a huge smile on my face by the conclusion of this touching love story touting the virtue of trusting the one you love and never losing hope.

What I Didn’t Love: Lacey’s father Nate Martin may be one of the most hateful characters I’ve ever
read. That said, I understood his brand of crazy but could not get a handle on Lacey’s questionable BFF Rachel. Rachel constantly bashes Karson, openly disrespects Lacey’s feelings for him and tries to plant doubts in Lacey about Karson’s faithfulness because he is a professional hockey player (while Rachel herself is married to a hockey pro). I cheered when Lacey called out her father but was disappointed that her character didn’t go full circle and hold Rachel accountable as well. Excuses are made for the character but I just couldn’t embrace them.

Favorite Quotes:

“I say what I want, and mean what I say. You are fucking gorgeous, and I love you. Those two statements can never be overused on you because they are the truth.”

“Everyone believes in you. Believe in yourself and leave the naysayers in your dust.”

“You bring out the best in me, and I don’t want anyone but you. Every single second of every day I’ll love you, and I’ll never stop.”

Laces & Lace is a moving and beautiful romance that shows the rarity of second chances and the value of embracing them when given the opportunity.  While it can be read as a stand-alone, several Assassins Series couples make appearances in Laces & Lace and having their background adds richness to the hockey universe Aleo has created. I confess I clapped my hands and squealed every time Elli and Shea from Taking Shots appeared.

Laces & Lace is packaged with the novella Tangled in the Laces, Karson and Lacey’s college romance that was originally published in the Seducing the Game anthology. Toni Aleo is donating $1 from each Laces & Lace purchase to the Nashville Predators Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research. One well-written full-length romance, a heart-breaking novella that introduces two unforgettable characters, and the opportunity to help a worthy charity - win, win, win. Don’t miss Laces & Lace.

Happy reading.

*Review* Her Winning Formula by Shannyn Schroeder

Spring break was supposed to be a last blast of fun for three friends before the reality of adulthood set in. But for the trio’s science whiz, it’s an education in instant attraction…

Chemistry major Felicity Stone can tell you everything about the way chemicals interact, but when it comes to social interaction, she needs schooling. Abandoned by her friends, Felicity is faced with spending spring break alone—unless she accepts a gorgeous stranger’s invitation to pose as his girlfriend at a family wedding. Not one to turn down a research opportunity, Felicity never expected it to produce such breathtaking results…

Teacher and baseball coach Lucas Tanner is fascinated by Felicity’s potent mix of spirit and scientist, not to mention her delicious curves. When Felicity asks him to return the favor by teaching her how to pick up guys, he can’t refuse—but he’s not at all happy with the idea of her using a formula for flirting on anyone but him. Can he convince her that together they have the perfect chemistry?

I received a copy of this story from NetGalley for an honest review.

The Hot & Nerdy Series by author Shannyn Schroeder has been a refreshing set of novella’s where the leading ladies are as equally equipped with smarts as they are with beauty. The hotties they find that show them life outside of intellectual pursuits do not hurt the stories either. I was excited to check out the series conclusion, Her Winning Formula.

Felicity Stone has the smarts to be at the top of her class at Harvard, it’s just basic social skills she’s
never been able to master. Felicity’s only social support comes from her two BFF’s Layla and Charlie and she desperately needs some time with them before the three start their new post-college lives. When Felicity’s recommendation for a last minute Spring Break trip to Texas implodes leaving her on her own, the brainiac is left with no clue what to do.

Lucas Tanner wants to get through his brother’s wedding and quickly and painlessly as possible.
Unfortunately he knows that is going to be impossible with his catty ex as one of the bridesmaids. When he finds out the quiet beauty next to him on the plane is on her own Lucas comes up with the perfect plan – fake girlfriend. Lucas gets a reason to keep his ex at bay and Felicity gets someone to keep her company.

Things seem win, win until the harmless charade quickly spirals out of the couple’s control. Will Felicity be smart enough to pick up the signals when Lucas stops wanting to pretend and to start getting real?

What I Loved: Her Winning Formula is a quick and easy read that I polished off in one sitting. Leads Felicity and Lucas are likeable and there is sweetness to their romance that helps you root for them. Felicity struggles with a lot of self-doubt and I truly felt for her character.

What I Didn’t Love: Her Winning Formula didn’t have the same spark and energy for me that I
experienced in the first two Hot & Nerdy books (Her Best Shot and Her Perfect Game). I wanted a little more growth for both Lucas and Felicity and their ending felt a tad rushed.

Favorite Quotes:

“During the course of speaking, she opened up. Her body language relaxed, and she was in the moment, not worrying about anything. She was honest and vulnerable. It was pretty fucking sexy.”

“But looking into Lucas’s eyes undid her. This was more than just different. It was special, but she didn’t even know how or why.”

The Hot & Nerdy Series has been a lot of fun and even though Her Winning Formula is not my favorite of the three novella series, I do recommend checking it out.

Happy reading.

*Review* One Kiss With A Rock Star by Amber Lin & Shari Slade

Half-Life bassist Krist Mellas is caught in a PR nightmare after his dirty sex video blew up online. His agent has the solution: a fake engagement with sultry pop princess Madeline Fox. Krist can’t think of anything worse than a charade with the bubblegum bombshell…except losing the band.

Madeline knows better than anyone what it means to live a lie in the spotlight. She’s determined to help Krist without ever letting him find out what it costs her—or about her girlhood crush on him. But after a smoking hot back alley encounter with him leaves her breathless, she can’t deny she wants the snarling bad-boy rocker.

In a world of glitter and diamonds where the kisses are fake but the climaxes are real, their facades start to crack. And the publicity storm may shatter them both.

WARNING: This book contains a scorching threesome, a dirty talking pop princess, and a surly rocker who hits all the right notes.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

Rock star books are my jam but I’ll admit it can be hard to find one that’s very realistic. Stories set in the world of music and fame can come off too sanitized, too sweet, too vanilla.  Authors Amber Lin and Shari Slade hit the nail on the head with One Kiss with a Rock Star. One of the best rock star romances I’ve read in a long time, it’s a perfect balance of heat, grit, and real emotion.

Half-Life Bassist Krist Mellas never expected a sex tape to tarnish his reputation and shake the foundation of the band he loves. Grasping at straws to undo the tapes damage and to keep Half-Life from imploding, Krist agrees to a sham relationship with a Pop princess.

Pop star Madeline Fox has had her eye on Krist Mellas for a long time and she's more than willing to play pretend, in fact pretending is what she does best. A stolen kiss at an award show left Madeline wanting more of Krist than he's willing to give. As Madeline pushes for a real connection she exposes not only Krist's demons but her own.

What I Loved: One Kiss with a Rock Star is insanely hot but the best part of the story is how real and relatable Krist and Madeline are. Both are artists who've sacrificed a bit of their souls to achieve fame and both suffer from the boxes they're forced to live their lives in. It was beautiful to see Krist and Madeline come to understand they were worth so much more to each other then their celebrity.

What I Didn't Love: I know One Kiss with a Rock Star is Krist and Madeline's story but it would have been nice to see a little more interaction between the men of Half-Life. The few scenes where the band interacted felt a bit rushed and I needed a bit more to invest in the band as a whole.

Favorite Quotes:

“He’d cut himself until there was nothing left but her will and his wanting. Every inch of her humming, warm, tacky, and perfect.”

“I’m not obligated to make a statement or check a fucking box. I live my life.”

“He dug his fingers into her hair and kissed her deeply, desperately, tasting the salt of her tears clinging to her lips. He swallowed her sorrow and used it to wash down his own.”

“I can’t save you, princess. But I can be with you while it all falls down. I can hold your hand and stand with you in the rubble. Broken but not alone.”

One Kiss with a Rock Star is Book #2 in the Half-Life Series. Though One Kiss with a Rock Star is preceded by Three Nights with a Rock Star (the story of Half-Life lead singer Lock and good girl Hailey), it can be read as a stand-alone.  The Half-Life shenanigans will keep rolling with Book #3, Second Chance with a Rock Star, focusing on drummer Moe and a former flame. I can’t wait to check it out.

Overall One Kiss with a Rock Star was a solid romance that I gladly recommend.

Happy reading.

*Cover Reveal* Sex, Desires & Rock n Roll (Redemption Tour #1) by Michelle Lee

Sex Desires Cover

Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 13, 2014

He holds me captive with his brilliant blue eyes. His crooked smile melts me every time. His voice wraps around me when he sings. His words break through and dive straight to my heart. Dash Ford, lead singer of Redemption, is unlike any man I’ve ever met and I'm drawn to not only his lyrics but the man behind the voice. But I am broken—beyond broken. I had no intention of falling for him. But when we met, I had no other option. With him, I embrace the present while trying to put my past behind me. I find myself in a world I never expected, a world I’m not entirely sure I can handle. Am I strong enough? Will I be enough for a man who has everything? Can I finally let go and give into the love I’ve wanted my whole life? Or will my past forever define and haunt me, keeping me from all I desire?

At center stage stands the lead singer, his head down, gripping the microphone. He opens his mouth, and the voice that oozes out of it sends a shiver down my spine. The screeching I heard earlier today is nowhere to be found. His voice is raw, deep, and raspy, its richness soothing. My ears are in love with his voice. I’m captivated, as he begins to sing the first line of the song. My heart pounds in my chest, my breathing accelerates, and I am mesmerized. He continues to sing, and the grittiness of his voice ignites a fire inside me that can't be contained. I find myself standing, hollering, and surprising the shit out of Tracy and Val. Hell, I'm surprising myself. The lyrics permeate my brain and float around in my head, turning me to goo. His words of hurt and anger resonate in my soul. It’s as if what he’s singing, he’s feeling and has lived. My heart aches in my chest for him if there is any truth behind his words. I finally notice the two enormous Jumbotron-like TV screens on either side of the stage. The camera focuses on him and he stares directly into the lens. His steel-blue eyes smolder and captivate me. I feel like I am under his spell. It goes on like this through the entire concert. Each song he sings I’m entranced by him, unable to break the chains that his voice and eyes bind me with. Finally the lights go out, the music stops, and I am no longer spellbound—a sense of loss fills me.

*Blog Tour* HIS Desire by Sheila Kell

Can Jesse Hamilton, the head of H.I.S., protect his client when his past and his heart have put them both in jeopardy?

When FBI Special Agent Kate Ross is injured in a drive-by shooting, Hamilton Investigation and Security, Inc. (H.I.S.) leader Jesse Hamilton, believing she is the target of a killer seeking revenge against him, pulls the full force of H.I.S. into action to protect her.

Kate doesn’t believe Jesse, the only man to make her seethe one minute and lust after him the next, when he approaches her with a note from the Facilitator stating someone he loved would die shortly, and he knows in his gut it’s Kate. After a second attempt on her life, she can no longer fight his protection or her attraction to him.

After making a mistake that cost his wife her life, Jesse vowed to never love again, but Kate stirs something in him that puts his protective instincts into overdrive. Keeping her alive and out of his heart is more difficult than he expected. Then he makes a decision that could cost Kate her life. Is history due to repeat itself?

Chapter 1 - (Unedited excerpt / first scene)

FBI Special Agent Kate Ross heard the wolf whistle as she approached the bench in the small park outside the federal building. She shook her head and rolled her eyes at her partner FBI Special Agent AJ Hamilton. He couldn’t go a moment without flirting with someone. He’d flirted with Kate when they’d been first assigned together. In response, she’d pinned him to the floor. He received the message loud and clear. Now they were good friends, and she couldn’t imagine a better partner.

The leggy redhead AJ had whistled at smiled and waved at him. His wink put a little pep in the woman’s step as she continued on her way. She expected AJ to jump up and follow the woman, but his butt remained glued to the bench, sandwich in hand.

She smiled and plopped down beside him, finally having a chance to eat lunch. Although at the late hour, it could’ve been called an early dinner. They’d wrapped up a murder case of a married couple were caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

She removed the lid on her Cobb salad and chuckled at his peanut butter sandwich. For a twenty- five year old man, he still hung on to his childhood favorites.

“Date of the month?” Kate poured Ranch dressing on her salad.

“Month?” AJ laughed. “Try week. I may love women, but I need to be able to hold an intelligent conversation with them.” He took a large bite of his sandwich.

“When are you going to start eating adult food? Maybe that’s why she kept walk-”

“You’re charging the wrong kid with murder,” a deep, masculine voice interrupted. Jesse, AJ’s older brother, appeared before them. How did he manage to always sneak up on them? “Samuel’s innocent.”

Samuel happened to be the teenage boy they’d just arrested for the double homicide. His father, a sitting judge, had hired H.I.S. to clear him as soon as he became a suspect.

Jesse, a former FBI agent himself, co-owned H.I.S., Hamilton Investigation and Security, Inc., with most of his brothers. Because of his relationship with the FBI Deputy Director, he’d been granted access to the investigation from the beginning. For the last month, he’d questioned everything AJ and Kate did and any evidence they collected, going out of his way to annoy the hell out of her in the process.

“We’ve been over this before.” She chucked her fork in the plastic container. The thought of food no longer appealed to her. “Our evidence points to him as the killer.”

They only had circumstantial evidence against Samuel. She’d suggested they continue their search for other suspects, but the Powers-to-be decided to charge the kid, halting any further investigation.

AJ stood, a troubled frown set into his features. “Jesse. You need to let it go.”

He nodded. “AJ.”

She watched the dynamic between the two devastatingly handsome men who were so different, but couldn’t be mistaken for anything other than brothers. She preferred AJ’s fun-loving, flirtatious nature over Jesse’s serious, aggravating personality any day of the week.

“Hello, Agent Ross. It’s good to see you again.” His mouth spread into a thin-lipped smile. His voice courteous, but patronizing.

WARNING: This book contains a scorching threesome, a dirty talking pop princess, and a surly rocker who hits all the right notes.

Watch the wings.

He couldn't miss them. She was naked but for feathers and glitter. Untouchable. Two grips ushered her along the catwalk and affixed her harness to a rig in the rafters. Krist was only a few feet off the ground on his platform, but he still felt unsteady. She was so high.

An assistant counted down, and the director shouted, “Action!”

The army of dancers below writhed to the thumping bass line of the guide track, feet pounding the floor, but Krist only had eyes for Madeline. She lifted her arms above her head like the ballerina in a little girl’s jewelry box, stepped off the ledge, and twirled down, singing.

“I break my own wings.”

The power in her vocals, the edge behind the lyric, knocked him more off balance. He'd expected her to lip sync. He'd expected her to fucking suck.

“I am falling. I am falling. Lift me up.”

All the dancers below lifted their hands in unison and swayed like the collective force of their will would boost her higher. Cheesy pop bullshit, but something about it worked. He didn’t want to admit it, but she had…something. She could fucking sing.

Her descent slowed. If he stretched, he could just reach her perfectly manicured toe. Almost time.

His whole body tensed as a camera swung in his direction. He grimaced and gripped the railing when the platform beneath him, mounted on what looked like a cherry-picker truck, shifted closer to Madeline. The cameraman gave him a thumbs-up. He must look sufficiently demonic.

Now. He reached for her, grabbing her by the waist, the only part of her body unadorned, and pulled her close. One breath and he was overcome by her scent. Spicy cotton candy. Unexpected and strangely perfect. A second breath and he prepared to do his damned job, to mash his lips against hers and fling her back to her adoring throng. It was only skin. It didn’t mean anything.

Her eyes flashed mischief. Hi, she mouthed and hooked her legs around his hips.

He froze. The producer hadn’t mentioned grinding in the rundown earlier. She shimmied against him, and his traitorous cock responded. Do the job you came to do.

Before he could, she bent her head and stole the kiss he’d been hired to deliver. He couldn't help but gasp, and then her tongue, warm and electric, invaded his mouth. Chai.

Could an angel corrupt a devil?

“I am falling. I am falling.” The guide track looped in the background, distorted by Auto-Tune, hardly recognizable as the sultry voice he'd just heard.

It was too much. The wet heat, her teeth grazing his bottom lip, and the way she rocked against his crotch. It hurt to touch her, just like the devil was supposed to react. He pushed, but she only held on tighter, digging her heels into his ass, twisting his hair in her fingers. Sparks of pleasure-pain skittered under his skin. She’d chosen him.

He didn’t want to want her. Wanting was a one-way ticket to disappointment.

She raked her fingers down his back, teasing the sliver of skin between his shirt and belt, and pressed her mouth to his ear. He shivered.

“Work with me.” She nipped him.

He could work. And if his body responded? Well, it was only biology. The hard-on straining against his zipper was as manufactured and packaged as the Dream Angel in his arms.

He lost himself in the pull and sway, forgot the crowd of people, the camera, the job. Forgot everything but the taste of her, the feel of her tight muscles under his palms, the tickle of feathers floating free.

He kissed her back, violent and hard, reclaiming what she'd taken: his choice. Her body softened, melted around him. She moaned, giving in, an unexpected surrender. He hadn’t missed the power she wielded over the whole production, a queen bee to her hive. But here she was gasping and shuddering in his arms, the rapid pulse against his chest like wings beating against glass. He ran his tongue along hers, savoring the honey and spice.

A sound came from the sides, an urgent whisper. They wanted him to stop. He even felt her lurch away, tugged by mechanical means, but he held tighter. They’d have to tear her away. They’d have to hurt her to do it. For one brief moment, he wasn’t letting go. Skin to skin, mouth to mouth. Heat to heat, and they’d both flown too close to the sun.

The music stopped.

He pulled back, breaking the kiss, but not the connection burning between them. “Why me?”

She blinked, hazy with lust. “Because you're the demon.”

That's my motivation. “No, why did you want me for this set. I know you did.”

He needed her to say it out loud. Because you owe me. Then he could be done. Then this could be filed away as one more task completed, one more favor repaid. Then he could ignore the sweet ache he felt at the thought of letting her go.
