I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
Alpha male fighter with a violent past plus one broken hearted young heroine trying to find her place = one captivating tale. I don't know what I expected when I jumped into Fight For You but I didn't expect to be so swept up in a story that balances loss, violence, heartbreak, love, and redemption. Now for the story...
Haddox knows dark. He lives it, breathes it, and fights to control it on a daily basis. One dark night full of blood made Haddox vow to establish and maintain control over everything from his fights in the ring to the women in his bed. His inner beast demands that strict rules must be obeyed.
Piper knows heartbreak. She feels it every time her childhood love uses her body and disregards her heart. As hard as Piper tries to ignore the pain, daily reminders of how little worth those who should love her see in her crushes what little happiness she has.
A chance meeting with Piper and her instant rejection sparks a need in Haddox that he can't ignore. As the two act on their passion, they have to decide if the fire between them will burn them to ashes or burn away the ghosts of their past.
What I Loved: Fight For You is an intense, original love story where blazing physical intimacy leads to real and lasting love. Piper and Haddox are painfully broken but far from unfixable. Author Charisse Spiers does a beautiful and honest job of translating the characters raw emotions and need during their many, many love scenes. Piper and Haddox have not experienced real love so it makes sense that the most honest way they can communicate with each other in the story is physically. This book couple has great chemistry and (no spoilers) I was thrilled with their HEA.
What I Didn't Love: I'm not going to lie, it took me a little bit to warm up to Haddox but once I did - WOWZER. Cocky and blunt, his need for control hides a desperate need for love. Haddox definitely left a lasting impression with me. Have patience with him, like Piper you will be rewarded.
“Show me pleasure or show me pain, as long as mentally you allow me to escape. We don’t have to be anything aside from what we are; nothing more, nothing less.”
"I think we choose the wrong person by getting in a hurry. Timing is everything. I now believe that with all that I am. If you wait on it to find you... you'll always find the one, the right one, which will also keep you happy for the rest of your life."
Fight For You is a passionate, well written story about healing past hurts and finding the ability to embrace the love you deserve. Once I started reading I struggled to put it down and it packs one heck of a punch. I recommend checking out Fight For You.
"Never let anyone tell you that true love doesn’t exist, because it does. The world may be leaving romance behind, but it can still live in our hearts if we let it. To lose romance would be one of the greatest tragedies. Keep it alive. If it dies the world will be a darker place." - Yours truly
