*Review* Garrett (Cold Fury Hockey #2) by Sawyer Bennett

Carolina Cold Fury star Garrett Samuelson never wants to miss out on a single minute of fun. Whether he’s playing hockey, hanging out with friends, or walking the red carpet with a new date on his arm, he lives every day to the fullest. When he meets Olivia Case, he sees someone who’s exactly his type—confident, sexy, smart . . . his next fling. But the more he pursues her, the more Garrett shares a side of himself that other women don’t normally get to see.
Olivia has been keeping a secret. While Garrett lives for the next thrill, Olivia’s not sure she’ll live to see the next day. She’s undergoing treatment for some serious medical issues, and she doesn’t have time for a relationship with no guarantees—especially one with a hot-as-sin womanizer who won’t take no for an answer. But as she gets to know the real Garrett, Olivia can’t help falling for him . . . hard. To reveal the truth would mean risking everything—but you can’t score without taking the tough shots.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review for The Reading Room Blog.

Garrett Samuelson is the notorious ladies’ man of the Cold Fury Hockey team. He loves women and treats them with respect as long as it’s for limited engagements only. When Garrett spots an unbelievable beauty at a party he’s intrigued. When she shoots him down he’s fascinated. When he’s warned off by his best friends girl… IT IS ON.

Olivia Case knows life can throw the unexpected at you at any moment. As she’s got her hands full dealing with one of those unexpected challenges, Olivia doesn’t know if she can handled the unexpected interest from Garrett. Would a brief fling with the handsome hockey star be a blessing or the curse that pushes her past the tipping point.

As Garrett sets out to prove he can be the man for Olivia, Olivia tries to embrace living in the moment with Garrett. Can either accept a brief stint of happiness or will they be willing to fight for a future together?

What I Loved: Garrett and Olivia are in turns super-hot and super-sweet. There is great growth in both characters as they embrace a relationship that neither envisioned ever having. A special highlight of the story for me was the bromance between Garrett and Alex (of Alex - Cold Fury Hockey #1). It was refreshing to see two male characters sharing their feelings and supporting each other while still maintaining a sense of humor.

What I Didn’t Love: No spoilers but Garrett and Olivia face a pretty huge obstacle in their relationship that causes each of them to make a few stumbles. By the time the pair got to their last “will they or won’t they” moment I was grinding my teeth a bit.

Overall Garrett (Cold Fury Hockey #2) is a sweet and engaging romance with memorable leads. I highly recommend checking it out. Garrett can be read as a standalone but I suggest reading Alex (Cold Fury Hockey #1) first.

Garrett will be followed by Zack (Cold Fury Hockey #3). No spoilers but something life altering happens to Zack during Garrett’s story and I’m dying to see how author Sawyer Bennett spins Zack’s story.

I’m a big fan of this series and can’t wait for more Cold Fury Men.

Happy reading.
