Dysfunctional empires were made to fall. I am Caesar. Broken and conflicted. I am a man who gives false goodness to those who crave it. I provide solace to the ones who beg to be saved, giving them the goodbyes they want. But, my quiet little world is about to be shattered by the whispers from heaven and hell. I am Mateo. Unlovable and unworthy. I am the boy everyone runs from. I keep love close to me in little jars of perfection, reminding me of a thousand goodbyes I never had to say, because I left them before they could leave me. I am Svetlana. Dirty and Used. Birthed into brutality while still trying to comprehend my version of normal. I am an injured lamb, eaten by filthy wolves day after day. Just as salvation seems like it's within reach, a goodbye from this awful world is all that I wish for.

“We need to go, Lettie doll.”
Why? Why does he call me that? Why does he make me feel like I want to keep living for tomorrow? I hate it! But I have no choice as I stare into his black eyes. They draw me in and suck the wind from my lungs, once begging for death, now craving life. The tearing I remembered from before with Pavel is instantly replaced with lust, throbbing between my legs as I feel the urge to fall to my knees and kiss his bloody boots to show him how much I praise him. He holds my heart in his hands. He knows this, but something tells me that his heart is in the balance, too.
Girls like me hold no power. I took life. I took one of his dolls because they held something I never will. Peace. Order. Death. I broke. The little, quiet girl who let herself be raped day after day let herself break into a million pieces as the hard dick pleasured her while her lover loved him more. I thought for sure I would be reprimanded for my actions, but a softness I haven’t seen before is present in his eyes. And maybe something else. Worry? Is that worry? Is his face red? I find myself wanting to comfort him, but he doesn’t like to be touched. My warm, trembling hands make him feel uncomfortable. The push and pull between life and death, love and loss, is making me mad.

*New Release & Review* Wicked Fall (Wicked Horse #1) by Sawyer Bennett

Never in your wildest dreams could you begin to imagine all the filthy and depraved things that go on inside The Wicked Horse. Step inside and Woolf Jennings will make every one of your dirty fantasies come true.
He’s covered in a facade of deception. An enticing blend of multi-millionaire and hot-as-hell Wyoming rancher, those that think they know Woolf Jennings admire his abilities to preside as CEO of his family’s cattle and oil empire. But only a privileged few truly understand what fuels the glitter of depravity in those gorgeous blue eyes. Only a few know he’s opened up a sinfully erotic and private sex club named The Wicked Horse right at the base of the beautiful Teton Mountain range.
Sweet Callie Hayes has returned home to Wyoming and is looking forward to starting her life over again. After a night of impetuosity, she’s managed to put herself right in Woolf’s line of sight… the man who she foolishly offered up her virginity to years ago and was flatly turned down.
Now Woolf is seeing that Callie is all grown up and has a kinky side to her that leaves him as confused as it does turned on. Worse yet, both Callie’s dirty desires and sweet heart are getting under his skin, and making Woolf question everything he’s ever believed about himself.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

Lovable leads, unique and engaging plot, scenes of off the charts of hotness, and 100% re-readable - Wicked Fall has it all. I devoured the story and recommend it happily.

Multi-millionaire tycoon by day and wild sex club owner by night, Woolf Jennings is a man to be envied and desired. He has the world at his fingertips... or so he thinks until ultimate good girl Callie Hayes rolls back into town. The governors daughter should be off limits but it looks like time has given Callie an edge that Woolf can't resist. Can the two give into temptation and keep things purely fun or will feelings ruin a "good" thing?

What I Loved: Sawyer Bennett writes some mighty fine book boyfriends but Woolf Jennings takes it to a whole new level. Smexy cowboy? Check. Dominant Alpha Male. Check. Master of Kink. Check. Loyal even when ignoring what his heart is telling him? Super check. Woolf had me swooning, blushing, and laughing at the same time.

What I Didn’t Love: This was a 5 star read for me so I loved everything, start to finish. Those that don't like their romance a little more on the wild side may be slightly uncomfortable with a few scenes (public sex, multiple partners, BDSM, etc.). To me it fit the story, so again a 5 star read.

Favorite Quotes:

"No, I don't want to nibble at life. I want to take a big fucking bite, suck down its juiciness, and swallow it hard with a moan."

"But man, hear me when I say.... you cannot stand beside me in my loneliness forever. It balances me, but partner... it will destroy you one day."

"Even though my common sense is telling me to cut this shit off right now and break ties, I could no more stop with Callie Hayes than I could give up oxygen."

"I've already rolled over and bared my throat to him in submission. I'm his."

Wicked Fall is one of the best reads I've had in 2015. Do yourself a favor and pick it up. I can't wait for the next installment.

Happy reading.

*Cover Reveal* CAT LOVE by Sunniva Dee

Cat love banner
Cat lov front
Title: Cat Love
Author: Sunniva Dee
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: October 5, 2015
Cover Design: Clarise Tan, CT Cover Creations
A sexy thriller about the animal in all of us. Aidan uses his superpower to stabilize minds at the Hollyreed Specialist Hospital. Ulani uses hers to chase rats on rooftops. Until she’s caught and deposited in Aidan’s care. At the hospital, Aidan finds Ulani's room empty—save for a cat, whose fur retracts in favor of silky skin and a vamp-gorgeous femme fatale. Aidan’s obsession with Ulani grows— While patients at the hospital go missing.
At twenty-three, you think you’ve experienced a lot. Been there, done that for the most part. Older people might laugh at you for expressing such beliefs, but you still don’t expect to come across reality-altering experiences.
Here I am, with the morning energy of Seven setting in around me as I carry a small, lost cat from the locked unit back to my apartment… only the bundle of fur is changing.
There’s something wrong, I think, my thought natural and instinctive. But when her coat retracts against my hand, replaced by smooth, human skin, my intuition withdraws too and checks out.
I think I roar while she expands in my arms. I’m frozen in place, my vocal cords the only part of me responding. She grows heavier, longer, wider, until she plops from my hold and onto the floor. Vamp-red hair flames around her in bright waves, and is that a snarl lifting her lip?
For an instant, I swipe the hallway with my eyes, hoping someone sees what I see. No nurses, no doctors, only Mrs. Anderson’s ancient husband is there, fists clutching his walking chair while he takes in the apparition between us.
Not a thread covers stunning porcelain skin. She swings, bereaving me of my fleeting view of a small ruby-red triangle and kiss-shaped nipples, and leaps to the breakroom yards from where I stand.
Ulani’s gone. It takes me a moment to react. I meet old Robert Anderson’s incredulous gaze, and I shake my head at him, both denying what we’ve experienced and assuring him that we’re together in this.
As I turn to follow her, he mutters, “Holy God,” behind me, and my next session with a patient will have to be with Robert. He’s been free of Dr. Holstein’s treatments because of his quiet ways, but if he starts talking about this, he’ll quickly become another notch in the good doctor’s lab desk.
I just experienced something I never thought possible. A freaking cat morphed into a woman. Hell, this is what dreams and movies are made of. At the same time, I’m conditioned to react to the needs of my patients, which is why I chase after her now.
Besides Ulani, no one’s in the breakroom. She’s got part of the curtains draped around her, forming an orange toga, and bare toes with scarlet nail polish peek out. She’s stunning, but more than my physical attraction to her, her emotions fascinate me.
My years in this hospital are few, but the number of hours I’ve worked could double the years, and now it’s time to cloak myself in professionalism.
“Ulani,” I say. “Are you okay?” It’s a simple yet necessary question. Since I have no experience with cat women, I’m not privy to the sort of strain such a transformation can have on their bodies.
Her glare is not human, I realize. I was struck by the beauty of those irises the last time I saw her. Now, she narrows my view of saturated emeralds behind slitted eyes. She’s suspicious but not afraid—neither is she the slightest bit confused. This girl has issues, but they’re not on the mental level.
“Don’t. Say. Anything.” Ulani enunciates the words one by one, putting so much emphasis into her command that her intensity reverberates in my chest.
Efficient footsteps clack down the corridor outside. The slight shuffle of Dr. Holstein’s gait accompanies it. Laurie replies to his orders with “right, of course” and “certainly, Dr. Holstein,” but then they both come to a dead halt in the doorway.
“I found Ulani,” I say quietly.
“Remy, John!” Dr. Holstein barks down the hallway. “I need your assistance immediately.”

*Review* Tainted Kiss (Watcher's Kiss #1) by Sharon Kay

Tactical, lethal, resolute.
Haunted by a centuries-old tragedy, there’s no room in Arawn’s life for softness. Every action he takes is for the betterment of his race and the good of the realm. He leads his elite band of warriors the same way he lives his life: full on, without compromise, determined. Except for one sexy female who happens to be his subordinate.
Tenacious, passionate, tough-as-steel.
Ria relishes the duties Arawn assigns her as much as she respects the deadly combatants on her team. And she has a secret: her formidable boss is also her deepest fantasy. Years of working under his authority haven’t dulled the spark she feels, yet her passion is tempered by the hints of loss she gathers about him. His dark and sexy moodiness draws her, but he’s a hard man to approach as he keeps the world at emotional arm’s length.
Secrets laced in blood burn his battle-hardened soul.
When Ria is gravely injured in the line of duty, Arawn can no longer fight his own long-simmering feelings. But a secret, more heinous and ugly than anyone could imagine, prevents him from surrendering his heart. Despite his intentions, he and Ria forge a connection both fiery and unexpectedly tender. Yet every day brings them closer to shocking facts. Evil stir

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

The Solsti Prophecy Series is one of my favorite paranormal romance series of all time so I was incredibly sad when it came to a close because author Sharon Kay developed such a rich universe it seemed a shame to lose it. So imagine my joy when Kay made the decision to spin off the universe into a new series - Watcher's Kiss. Tainted Kiss is the first of the newly launched series and it doesn't disappoint. Action packed with scorching romance, Kay kicks off what promises to be another stellar series.

What I Loved: Arawn. Arawn. Arawn. Did I mention I loved Arawn? Arawn just oozes tortured alpha male awesomeness. Arawn originally grabbed my interest in the Solsti Prophecy Series and I have been dying for his story ever since. I'm happy to report that Tainted Kiss gave Arawn the story he deserved. Concerning the featured couple, Arawn and Ria have great chemistry and I love that the two warriors brought out both the strength and softness inside of each other.

What I Didn't Love: Sharon Kay writes some very detailed legends and plots that move at lightening speed. Be prepared to process a lot of paranormal info (types of demons, historical connections, different realms, etc.) quickly. Kay does provide a handy glossary at the end of the story. I recommend reading it before jumping into the story.

Favorite Quotes:

"Redemption was only a concept. One he could help others find. It would never be in the cards for him. Not when evil simmered in his blood."

"There was no going back now, as if there ever had been. No way of things being like they were before. No pretending that there wasn't a goddamn wildfire burning between them."

"This woman was sex and promise and lethal power, and he couldn't deny his growing need for more than her body."

Tainted Kiss (Watcher's Kiss #1) is a great launch to author Sharon Kay's new series and I'm already excited for the next book - Assassin's Kiss (Watcher's Kiss #2). This will focus on deadly assassin Scorpio and his witch love Tessa.

Happy reading.

Landon makes a grunting sound and I clench the phone tighter. Details of his life slip out here and there. What I do know, I know from observing him. Like how he prefers structure and routine. Always with a set schedule and ordering the same coffee. I notice how he is either locked inside his own head or watching everything around him with intense focus. There is no middle ground with Landon.
"Come on," I plead. "Distract me."
"You are impossible to say to no to, woman. What you want to know?"
I chew on my lip and consider the million questions floating around in my head. I never ask them because I get the feeling he doesn't like it. Plus, I know how it feels to be treated like a science experiment. He's probably put up with it most of his life.
"Do you remember the first time you saw me?" I ask and hold my breath.
"Tell me about it," I urge. I cross my ankles and sit up. My body is tight with suspense. I can clearly remember our collision in the hallway the day I left. I wanted to know how he saw it.
"You were sitting in your room. It was a Tuesday and it was raining outside. You sat cross-legged on the bed, watching the rain run down your window. You wore a pair of flannel pants and black tank top."
"Wow," I whisper. "Detailed."
"I heard that an amnesia patient had been admitted that week," he continues, and I realize he saw me way before I saw him. "I walked the halls, finding the new faces and trying to guess which one it would be. I spend every day wishing that I could forget. I wanted to know what it was like to have that ability. When I saw you, I knew you were the one they talked about."
"You looked so lost. You looked beautiful, but like you were once full of light and it was stolen from you. I figure only someone who lost something that they took for granted everyday would look like that. Maybe it's not the blessing I thought it was."
I hum into the phone and sink back into the water. "We're both cursed."
"Maybe we both needed to open our eyes," he whispers, sending shivers down my body.
Ironic how we both found each other; I can only look forward and he can only look back. I'm digging and searching for something bad that happened to me whereas Landon is trying to forget it. Neither one of us can see the world like the other, but I don't think there are two people who understand each other better than we do.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

I jumped into Memorized as an Alyne Roberts newbie but I can promise you I'm now a solid fan and will be checking out her other works soon. Memorized tells the unique tale of Willow and Landon, a young woman who has lost three years of her memory and a young man who cannot forget a single moment of his entire life. Can they save each other or will one be the final crack to break the other completely?

What I Loved: Memorized is told from both Willow and Landon's POV's, with Willow's POV including flashes into her lost past. Author Alyne Roberts does a beautiful job creating two distinct voices that narrate a creative and detailed plot that flows seamlessly. This is a wonderfully written story that I consumed in one read.

What  I Didn't Love: Landon suffers from a condition that forces him to remember essentially everything in his life and I would have appreciated a few more past memories that caused him apprehension about making Willow a permanent part of his life.

Favorite Quotes:

"A large amount of whiskey will wash away the memory of her eyes when they looked at me desperately. A few shots might dull the ache from watching the hope and light die out inside of her."

"I can see the strength inside of her, but it doesn't mean she's unbreakable."

"I want to walk away like I do with anything that I don't think I want to live the rest of my life reliving. Willow has the potential to ruin me, but I have the potential to save her."

Memorized has a unique plot that cleverly blends romance and mystery. This is  definitely worth a read.

Happy reading.

Release Date: September 22, 2015

Pre-Order Links
Lauren Michaels is exhausted with the push and pull of copy editing for Los Angeles’s woman’s magazine, Frenzy, which caters to pop culture, style, and above all, sex.
She wants to write for the magazine rather than edit, but her boss is convinced that Lauren’s conservative tendencies won’t fit in with the risqué nature of what Frenzy is about. Convinced to make her mark, Lauren begs for the chance to prove her self. Her boss agrees, tasking her with the impossible, in hopes of failure, because although she doesn’t want her to become a journalist, she doesn’t want to lose her as Editor-in-Chief, either. Her daunting mission? To investigate the growing popularity of sex clubs in Los Angeles, and figure out how the sensual underworld functions. Out of her element, Lauren starts her search with pen and paper in hand at a local sex shop, hoping she’ll find a trail that leads to the dark lairs of sex and fetishes. Trying to hide her inexperience, and pretending she’s a professional sex kitten, this trail instead leads her to one brooding, Nathan Sanders. He’s daunting, charming, and a little too dark and mysterious for her taste, but Lauren knows he’s what she needs as her way in. What she doesn’t see coming is that Nathan is all too willing to invite her to a nightclub she’s only ever heard stories about, and also the fact that Nathan know’s Lauren doesn’t have a clue what she’s getting herself into. However, he can’t turn down the idea of helping her out with her research once she confesses the whole story. This could be fun, they said. There’s no harm in it, they agreed. Little do they know, a little research can serve up some unexpected results.
I nudge my chin toward him to imply the same. He grins, and his eyes are all over my body at once, dragging quickly over my face, down my chest, my hips, legs, and to my toes before making the same journey back up. I feel like his private exhibit. I twirl his card between the fingertips of both of my index fingers, giving him my own head-to-toe glance. “Do you do this often? Stroll into this place and ask for sex?” Saying the word sex out loud feels terrifying, but also empowering, because that’s what this shop is about, and that’s exactly what it means when a place like Fahrenheit is brought up. I may not know what the hell I’m doing, but I refuse to let these lines get blurred in the process. Let’s not confuse the context. I’m (apparently) agreeing to have sex with Nathan Sanders, and I just met him. He’s so much taller than me, so when he leans toward me, he’s looming over my frame, but his presence seems to encase me, pulling me in with one swift move. I try to remember that this is about research, and gaining an understanding of what the world of sex clubs and fetishes are about, but when I stare at someone like Nathan Sanders, I start to forget my reasons for standing here. Having his full attention feels almost like a gift. I like the way he looks at me, even if I don’t know him, and while I want to know more about Fahrenheit, a part of me wonders what dark secrets this guy has, too. Regardless, one thing proves very true right now, that whoever he is, Nathan Sanders wants to fuck me, and I can’t imagine a better person who I’d let be my guide, whether he knows it or not. It’s in the name of science, I tell myself. My natural inclination to be responsible and compassionate feels bad for being deceptive, but I remember that when a place like Fahrenheit is involved, normally the person doesn’t care about the why you want to fuck them, they just care about the fact you want to. No need to trouble oneself with the details. I mean, he pretty much invited me for sex before knowing my name. “Call me when you’re sure,” he blurts out, catching me completely off guard, and pulling me out of my analyzation. “When I’m sure?” I repeat back. I thought we just decided that I was. “I want you to think on it. Curiosity killed the cat, ya know? Just think about it tonight, call me tomorrow when you’re sure, and we’ll go from there. If you know what Fahrenheit is then you’ll know that it’s not a decision to take lightly.” My brows pull together. “I look forward to the call, Lauren.” “Sure thing, Nate,” I blatantly chide, enunciating the “t” sharply, finding it funny that although he gave me the option to reconsider, he already seems pretty sure about the outcome. His beautiful mouth does that twitchy thing again with his eyebrow. “Pleasure meeting you,” he says, his voice sounding deeper and more mysterious now. “Pleasure was all mine,” I reply, watching him stroll out of the shop, seemingly empty handled, but I assure you, I’m pretty sure he somehow gained ownership of my curiosity, while I seem to be holding the key to his adventure.

*Review* Tyed (California Love #1) by LJ Shen

Rock bottom has built way more champions than privilege has.
Blaire, an underachieving college student with zero prospects and a ton of issues (hey, being the less-successful twin of a gorgeous supermodel would totally do that to you) needs something from Ty.

Mixed Martial artist Ty, a soon-to-be Welterweight champion of the Xtreme Warrior League and the hottest guy in the Bay Area, wants something from Blaire.
But Ty has a secret.

And Blaire can barely even handle his truths.
Life is about to throw a few knockout punches at both of them. Can they handle the pain?
Tyed is a standalone novel.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
I don't know what I expected when I jumped into Tyed but I do know that I absolutely loved reading it. This was an easy read that I enjoyed from start to finish.
Frustrated college student Blaire Stern just wants to graduate so she can get her parents off of her back. Unfortunately her final assignment involves writing an in depth piece on Mixed Martial Arts, a sport she knows nothing about. When Blaire manages to piss off a fighter before even making in to the MMA gym participating in her story, she knows she's in trouble. If only she knew what kind because Tyler "Ty" Wilder likes a challenge. And the prize he wants... is Blaire.
What I Loved: Blaire just jumped off the page for me. She is a fantastic heroine with just the right balance of sarcasm, wit and hopefulness. Author LJ Shen keeps the focus on the build of Blaire and Ty's relationship and not his career in the ring. MMA is part of who Ty is and the world he operates in but it doesn't define his relationship with Blaire, that felt refreshing to me for a MMA genre read. This is a book couple I could definitely read more of.
What I Didn’t Love: Overall Tyed and its leads were great. My nitpick would be a secondary story line involving the conflicted relationship between Blaire's sister and best friend. I thought it took away from the main story slightly and I wasn't a super fan of either character. Maybe they'll redeem themselves in a follow-up story?
Favorite Quotes:
“People praise him, curse him, love him and hate him, fear him and respect him. I seem to share those mixed feelings. He attracts me and repulses me at the same time. Like a car crash. Only I worry I’ll be one of the casualties involved. “
“I can handle Ty Wilder. Of course can handle Ty Wilder. I’m a (kind of) strong, (semi) independent woman, and I can. Handle. Ty. Wilder. Jesus Christ. I so can’t handle him.”
“Bad boys? They’re bad. Taming the bad boy? That’s a good idea for a chick flick. Doesn’t usually happen in real life, though. Sweetheart, you’re far too smart to be another notch on his belt.”
“I crave you. I want all of you, every single inch of you. And call it an only-child syndrome, but I. DO. NOT. FUCKING. SHARE.”
For a first time writer author LJ Shen came out swinging. Tyed is a fast-paced enjoyable read with leads that were easy to connect with. I highly recommend checking Tyed out.
Happy reading.
