Finley (Sunset Cove Series #1) AMAZON US | AMAZON Universal

It's time to come home, Finn.

It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life. Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change. On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget.

Six words will forever change the course of their lives.

Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary. Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart. Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

“What he doesn’t realize is the girl he remembers doesn’t exist anymore.” –Lily

Goose calls her Little Bird.  But the love of Lily’s life has no idea why the nickname describes her so perfectly. He doesn’t know who she really is, and that their first meeting wasn’t a happy twist of fate, but an elaborate plan that’s been years in the making.

But then lies do what they always do. They pile up, like feathers in her hands, and one by one they all fall.

As Road Captain for the Harbingers of Chaos Motorcycle Club, Goose is an expert at spotting potential danger from miles away. He’s also a living and breathing lie detector.
And yet…when a new little bird dances her way into his life, the vast threat she poses to his club slips right past his radar. He’s too distracted by the color of her lips, and her not so subtle curves, to see her for what she is.

A little lyrebird.

A ghost that’s haunted him for years.

And ultimately, his downfall.

“She says she’s not the girl I remember. I’m not so sure.”-Goose

*Release Blitz & Review* Rushing the Goal (The Assassins Series) by Toni Aleo

RUSHING THE GOALnow-available-01Introduced in Toni Aleo’s Bellevue Bullies Series, it’s the Sinclair brothers’ big sister’s turn to find love in the next installment of the New York Times and USA Today best-selling series, the Assassins.
Lucy Sinclair was no stranger to pain.
She grew up with three younger brothers, met a bad boy, got pregnant by him, married him, and then suffered through a nasty divorce from him. Pain. That was pain. To top it off, she even had to go through the heartbreaking divorce of her parents. Through it all, she survived. All she cared about was making sure her daughter was happy and taken care of. Despite an ex-husband hell-bent on ruining her life, she fought to overcome. She’s gotten to the point that she’s okay with being just okay. She never cared about herself because she never had the time. It was Angie and only Angie she focused on, but that all changed when Benji Paxton offered to help her daughter on the ice.
Benji knew the moment he saw Lucy, he’d never be the same. Especially when she came with the bundle of crazy that was her daughter. His heart wasn’t ready for them. After years spent sobering up and finding who he was without the alcohol, he never forgot he was being punished for not appreciating the love he had when he was younger. Because of his past, he had gotten used to being alone, a recluse, but even he had to admit it was getting old. He was lonely. Hockey wasn’t enough anymore. He wanted a family; he wanted his true love, and Lucy and Angie were just that.
  lost souls 2-01
Benji and Lucy were just two lost souls. Floating through life with no purpose. But finding each other gave them direction, a chance at a future.

This book is for any single mom who wants to give up.
Just keep being a great mom. And take care of yourself.
Your prince is coming.

I received a copy of this story for an honest review.

Few books have resonated with me like Rushing the Goal by Toni Aleo. This book is pure beauty from page one. Love comes in all forms, from soulmates making a connection to the love of a parent for a child to the love of siblings who give you hell but with fight every battle for you to friends standing beside you life is at its bleakest. Rushing the Goal captures all the various forms of love and how they heal and restore us.

We first met Lucy Sinclair in The Bellevue Bullies Series and Benji Paxton in The Assassins Series but don't worry if you're an Aleo newbie, Rushing the Goal can be read as a standalone. Both Lucy and Benji have experienced their share of heartbreak and loss. That shared pain makes watching the two characters step out of their comfort zones and risk big for the chance of winning at happiness pure perfection. Cute kids can sometimes take away from a story but not Lucy's daughter Angie. I think I fell in love with her as much as I did Lucy and Benji.

This book touched me on a very personal level. The man I call dad is not the man whose blood I have but he is the man who raised me. I know Lucy - she's my mom, the woman who always put my needs before her own. I know Benji - he's the man who used to take me on dates with my mom and he's the man who walked me down the isle at my wedding. I shed some big fat ugly (but happy) tears reading Rushing the Goal.

Favorite Quotes (I highlighted 28 quotes and struggled with which ones to share. Toni Aleo killed it with this story.):

"Lucy. She's tall, thin, green eyes, brown hair, and she has permanent resting bitch face. She'll look pained."

"She was like a cat. Angry, but he bet he could make her purr."

"Well, how about you fight for what you need to fight for, and I'll fight for you."

"She believed that two lost souls had become a full one, no longer lost but together. And she believed  with everything inside her that nothing could ever break them apart."

Please, please, please do yourself a favor and read Rushing the Goal. This is the best book that Toni Aleo has ever written and I hope it gets all the attention and praise it deserves.

Happy reading.

Dark Notes by Pam Godwin *Amber's Review*

They call me a slut. Maybe I am.
Sometimes I do things I despise.
Sometimes men take without asking.

But I have a musical gift, only a year left of high school, and a plan.
With one obstacle.

Emeric Marceaux doesn’t just take.
He seizes my willpower and bangs it like a dark note.
When he commands me to play, I want to give him everything.
I kneel for his punishments, tremble for his touch, and risk it all for our stolen moments.

He’s my obsession, my master, my music.
And my teacher.

Release date → APRIL 5TH, 2016

Hello everyone!!! Yes, you are reading the above correctly. I am back blogging at The Reading Room Blog. I missed blogging so much that I asked Lisa and Megan to have me back. So lets kick it off with my current review I just finished and a book that I beta read. Hope you are all happy to see me back as I am. :)

I'm his Ivory, and he's my darkest note.

This review will be completely spoiler free. I will just share my feelings on the book, but will not go into any sort of detail on what the book is about. You read the blurb, if not here it is.

They call me a slut. Maybe I am.

"They're dark and hypnotic, like your breaths and your heartbeats."

Sounds pretty HOT right? I've been waiting for a book like this for a very long time. I love forbidden romance books, I love the build up I get from those book, the innocent touches, the way the characters feel about each other, even though they shouldn't.

I love the way Pam built this book up, it was set up perfectly and gave me exactly what I wanted and needed in a book. She has a way with her writing that is almost poetic, I felt myself just let go reading away for hours and then realized that I had nothing else to read. But that being said, (I was one of the beta readers for this book, so I was given this book in sections till I finally got the whole thing, Pam can be evil like that.) :)

Like life has handed me a song filled with soul-deep joy and told me to savor every note. Because eventually, the song will end.

Pam has not limits to writing, I have noticed that now in the last couple of her books. She is fucking genius for sure, I have known this since I met her. But her writing, it fucking pulls you in and you won't stop until you finish the book, and even after that I am still stuck on this book. Major book hanger for sure! It has been a while since I read a book that drew me in the way this one did.

The characters are amazing, they fit perfectly together! As you know this is a student teacher romance, and it isn't like any student teacher romance I have read. This one has such passion in every single page, you feel EVERY single thing just as they do. Its captivating. I am in AWE of Pam right now. I found everything I wanted in a book and more. I feel in love with these characters. It's just PERFECT! I applaud you, Pam you have created a freaking master piece and can not wait to see what the hell else you will be coming up with!

I am very happy to say, I was one of the beta readers for this book.

Hope you all enjoyed my review. Be sure to add this one to your read list. You won't want to miss out on this for sure. When you do read it, would love to hear what you think of it, so feel free to email, Fb message us, or even drop a comment. :)

*Review* Rewriting the Rules by S. Moose

Off limits. Stay away.
Don't even think about it.

I know the rules.
I repeat them endlessly in my head.
But damn it, I can't stay away.
Can't stop thinking about it. About her.

She's perfect. Beautiful. Exceptional in every way.
When in the world did she grow up?
No! I refuse to touch her. I won't do it.
But I did. Just once.
And now. I want more. So much more.
Once I've set my mind to something, nobody can stop me.
Not even him. Screw him.
He's just my best friend.
She's just his little sister.

Rules are meant to be bent.
Broken. Hell, rewritten.
How bad can it be?

I received an author's copy of this story for an honest review.

Rewriting the Rules is the newest novel by S. Moose and focuses on the romantic tangles of Charlotte and Troy. Can two first loves find their way back to each other after years of pain and misunderstanding?

What I Loved: S. Moose created an interesting world of young adults struggling to make that full transition to adult life - building careers, transitioning from easy and fun physical relationships to wanting to have someone to really share your life with. The story is sweet and readers get a desired HEA.

What I Didn't Love: I really struggled with the connection between Charlotte and Troy. Both characters present their initial separation as devastating and life altering, yet when reconnected they constantly run hot and cold. I think there were several missed opportunities to dig into their past and build on fears of making a real future together. If a story is going to be heavy in the angst I need there to be real causes for the pain, I didn't get that from Rewriting the Rules.

Favorite Quotes:

"When a woman knows her worth, and knows what she wants, then to me, she's what I want."

"He's my home. He's my person. Love isn't deceitful and shouldn't make you cry. Love doesn't come from toxicity. it's pure and true. It's simply love."

"Love is like the air. We know it's there, and we know we need it. Some of us need to go through hell to realize what's been in front of us for so long."

Though it was a bit bumpy and not necessarily my cup of tea, fans of second chance romance may enjoy Rewriting the Rules.

Happy reading.

In a frenzy, I grab hold of the door handle, tugging at it for dear life. Suddenly, a hand appears to either side of me, palms flat against the wood. I feel the warmth of his body against my back. And while my brain fires up in anger, just about everything from the neck down fizzles with lust: muscles, veins, sinews, nerves. Shit, shit, shit. I’m in trouble.

‘Let me out!’

‘I can’t.’

‘I want to get out.’

‘No you don’t.’

And that does it. Hasn’t he learned anything over the past few days?

‘Stop!’ I swing round to find myself caged in by his arms. ‘Just stop telling me what I want.’

‘Why?’ His eyes bore into me. ‘I’ve been right so far.’

‘Arrogant fucking arse.’

This seems just about the perfect time to give him a good hammering. Balling my fists, I hit him hard on the chest, over and over again, growling like a mad dog. Keeping his hands in place and bracing himself, he simply takes it. No gritting of teeth. No wincing in pain. I barely make an impact. I don’t seem to be making much progress here so I move on to his face, slapping it once before he grabs both of my hands, pinning them above my head. With his face close to mine, breathing unevenly, he fixes his attention on my lips.

‘Don’t you dare ...’
Before I manage to push out the final words or turn away, his mouth is on mine. And now that he’s kissing me, I should resist. But I don’t. In fact, I can’t. His lips are as smooth and warm as ever, and I cave in straight away. Kissing him back with a passion, I let his tongue twist and turn against mine, lapping up the taste of him, listening to my brain as it nags me to get a ruddy grip. Enjoying the absolute perfection of a Daniel Foster kiss, I waft it away. As ever, physical contact reduces me to a wanton hussy. A hand slides around my back, pulling me in tight as he practically devours me. At last, when he’s finally had his fill, he pulls back, waiting for me to open my eyes before he speaks.

‘Feel that, Maya? That’s attraction. The strongest fucking attraction I’ve ever felt in my life. And you feel it too.’

Releasing my hands, he runs a finger across my neck. ‘That’s why you’ll be wearing the necklace again before you step out of this door. You and me are made for each other.’
