Amber's Dark Reads Recommendations

The other day I posted a question on Facebook, "Do you have to have a HEA (Happy Ever After) in books?"
A reader and I started talking about it, I mentioned that I do not always want a HEA in a book. Then we started talking about recommendations than next thing you know I ended up with a list of books that are my favorite dark reads. Then a list of dark reads that do not have a HEA. So, then the idea of putting together a blog post came to mind so here I am.

The first list is my favorite dark reads that I adore!

The books listed will go from top to right!

The Filthy Series by Megan D. Martin (Amazon Link: This book has kept me days without reading! It has kept me coming back to it still to this day, its one of those books that haven't left me, and makes me what to re-read it again and again! It's SUPER good!

Flawed (The Butcher Book 1) by Fancette Phal (Amazon Link) → This is the first book in this series. The second one has not came out yet. I've been kind of stalking the author for the second one. LOL. I fucking LOVE this book! Like this is my kind of book. The two main characters are AH!!! It's so freaking good. A must read! Super dark, and crazy! And the writing. Boy! Oh and there is this rope scene that I still can't get out of my head! YES!

The Darker Side of Trey Grey by Tara Spears (Amazon Link) →  This one is the first book as well in the series. I am trying to be patient, but I can't wait for the next book to come out!
This is my FAVORITE MM book EVER! And the best part is, is that it's on the dark side. :) That has made me very happy! I still remember looking on Amazon one day thinking, I really want a dark MM book. Typed it in and nothing was really catching my eye. Then I seen the cover of this book and thought, OHHH this one looks good. Bought it and finished it that day I believe. It's amazing! If you want to read my review here it is → The Darker Side of Trey Grey *review*

Held (Book 1) by Kimberly A. Bettes (Amazon Link ) →  This is the 1st book! The second book is called Pushed, you will need to read Held first before reading Pushed!
Anyhow onto Held, this book is bat shit crazy! Its fucking dark and gritty. Its everything you could ask for in a dark horror book! It's not for the faint of heart, so be sure have a light on if you are reading this at night. Here is my review for → Held *review*

Beneath the Burn by Pam Godwin (Amazon Link ) → AH! I absolute adore this author and book! One of my favorites. I was one of the beta readers for this book and it blew me away. It's one of my favorites of Pam Godwin's books. To me its more darker as well then the others. One that I have been thinking about doing a re-read at some point soon. So good! Here is my review → Beneath the Burn *review*
Wanderlust by Skye Warren (Amazon Link) → This was my very first book of Skye Warren. It hasn't been my last, I remember when this first book was being talked about on Goodreads, so many other readers were staying this isn't for the faint of heart and that it was really dark. Now coming back to it, its not as dark as some books I have read, but it is dark and probably one of my favorites of Skye Warren's books. She is amazing and her writing is always good! Here is my review for → Wanderlust *review*
The Tied Man by Tabitha McGowan (Amazon Link) →  This book is not for the faint of heart. This is not a dark romance book. It is simply dark and raw that has fucked up shit that keeps happening all the way through. It's simply amazing! There will be a 2nd book but so far there is not update on when that will be. But I am patiently waiting on it. :)

Escape From Paradise by Gwendolyn Field (Amazon Link) → AH this book! I was just pulling up my review on Goodreads and wow! I remember reading this book and it had me stuck. I love this book and now I want to re-read all of the books I am making a post about. I highly recommend this book if you want something dark and so yummy and awesome! Here is my review for → Escape From Paradise *review*

Well there you have it, that is the 1st list I have for dark books that end with a HEA. For those that can handle a dark book that does not have a HEA well here is that list. It's not as long as the list above, there isn't that many dark books that I have read that don't have a HEA that I feel needs to be on this list right now. But trust me I am searching for it. :)
NON HEA (My favorites)

The Decimation of Mae by D.H. Sidebottom (The Blue Buffterfly Book 1) (Amazon Link) → This is the first book in the series, in my opinion it was perfect! To me this was not a HEA, but there is a second book and I have no idea how that one ended or how it went. I read the blurb and thought nope, not for me. I loved how this book ended and thought there was no need for another book, so I decided that I wouldn't read it and would call this good. It is dark and its kind of twisted, but its also slightly romance to the touch. :)

Break Her by B.G. Harlen (Amazon Link) →
This one I am torn into HEA or not. It really doesn’t qualify as a HEA but I was quite pleased with the ending. It's fast paste and kept going till the end. I really enjoyed this one and looking forward to more books by this author.  To read my review here it is → Break Her *review*

The Girl Next Door by Jack Ketchum (Amazon Link) →
This one is Dark and griddy! Not of course for the faint of heart. I read this book in a couple of hours. As soon as I started it, I couldn’t put it down. That is how good it is. You would have to read it for yourself to get what I mean about this book. Here is my review for it → The Girl Next Door *review*

Well there you have it! My Dark Reads Recommendation list! If you end up reading one of these, I would love to hear what you think of it!

Happy Reading!

Amber
