For Mackenzie Cox, racing motorcycles is in her blood. Born into a family legacy, she's determined to show the world that she has inherited her father's talent in this male-dominated sport. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonised by her rival team's newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Hayden, exceedingly arrogant and outrageously attractive, immediately gets under Kenzie's skin and she can't help but be distracted.
As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense - and strictly forbidden - attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie needs a win, and she also needs to stay away from Hayden. Unfortunately for her though, one thing has become all too clear: she can't.
Fuelled by passion, driven by desire, Hayden and Mackenzie both want to win more than anything else. Except for, maybe, each other. But anger, jealousy and extreme competitiveness aren't their only obstacles . . .
I received a copy of this story for an honest review.
Mackenzie Cox is set to step out of her legendary father's shadow and make a name for herself in the racing world. Hayden Hayes is a legend in his own right in the world of illegal street racing looking to go legit. When the two become the leads on rival teams, competition forces each to up their game. The only problem is what makes them better is each other...
What I Loved: Hayden Hayes is a wonderful addition to the world of book boyfriends. A little bit of bad boy, a little bit of mystery, a little bit of heart of gold - a mix of contradictions that just works on the page. His chemistry with Mackenzie is strong and I liked the slow build the pair had from competitors to friends to lovers.
What I Didn't Love: I struggled with Furious Rush a little. The leads are great but the secondary characters had me fuming. Constant conflict and betrayal by those around the leads got tedious and took away from the central relationship. Also the ending of the story is slightly cliffhanger-ish. Be prepared to walk away from this read with several unanswered questions.
"I really wasn't sure whether I could believe him. But sadly, I needed him too much to walk away."
"Because now that we have both fallen... the true pain would begin."
"You can't straddle both worlds forever Hayden. You'll slip up, or you'll get hurt..."
Fans of NA romance and racing reads will definitely want to check out Furious Rush. I'm interested in seeing what S.C. Stephens does next in this series because it is most definitely set up for a follow-up book.
